Join the Camp S.W.A.G. Board of Directors
Camp S.W.A.G. is expanding its Board of Directors with two community-based positions that bring outside perspective, professional experience, and meaningful connections to the organization.
Camp S.W.A.G. operates with one governing Board of Directors supporting the organization and its programs across the communities we serve. We are especially interested in professionals and community leaders with connections in Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte, North Carolina.
These are full Board positions that participate in Board meetings and matters presented to the full Board. They are not Executive Committee or day-to-day operational roles.
Board Member – Community Partnerships & Youth Access
Board of Directors • Community-Focused PositionHelp Camp S.W.A.G. strengthen relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, businesses, community leaders, and other organizations that can expand opportunities for young people.
Key Contributions
- Help develop relationships with schools, organizations, and community partners.
- Make strategic introductions when appropriate.
- Identify partnership and community resource opportunities.
- Provide insight regarding youth, family, and community needs.
- Help increase awareness of Camp S.W.A.G. programs and opportunities.
Ideal Candidate
- Professional or community leader with an established network.
- Experience in education, youth development, workforce development, business, civic leadership, or community engagement.
- Comfortable building relationships and making meaningful introductions.
- Able to contribute strategically without managing day-to-day program operations.
Board Member-at-Large
Board of Directors • General Board PositionBring an additional independent perspective, professional experience, community insight, and strategic guidance to Camp S.W.A.G.
Key Contributions
- Participate in full Board discussions and decisions.
- Provide thoughtful feedback on organizational priorities and opportunities.
- Offer perspective on community needs and youth engagement.
- Support special initiatives when appropriate.
- Serve as a positive ambassador for Camp S.W.A.G.
Ideal Candidate
- Professional, business leader, educator, or community leader interested in youth development.
- Brings sound judgment and a collaborative approach to Board service.
- Comfortable contributing ideas and asking thoughtful questions.
- Able to contribute strategically without assuming an executive or operational role.
Board Commitment
- Serve a one-year term with the opportunity to extend.
- Participate in scheduled Board meetings, generally held monthly.
- Review relevant materials before meetings.
- Participate thoughtfully in matters presented to the full Board.
- Provide strategic guidance within areas of knowledge and experience.
Board Service & Recognition
- Professional biography and headshot recognition on the Camp S.W.A.G. website.
- Certificate recognizing Board service.
- Recognition through selected Camp S.W.A.G. communications and events.
- Invitations to selected programs, showcases, and organizational events.
- Reimbursement of pre-approved expenses incurred while performing authorized Board responsibilities.

Camp S.W.A.G. is providing high school girls with two distinct opportunities connected with the Spring 2027 Connect & Thrive Women’s Conference in New York City.
Girls can gain hands-on experience through the Camp S.W.A.G. Volunteer Opportunity for Girls or, for eligible young business owners, participate through Next Generation Female Entrepreneurs.
