The Experience Scholarships Make Possible

More than a summer STEM program.

S.O.L.A.R.-X™ Innovation Project Lab for Girls is a Girls Are Phenomenal™ summer experience in which three teams of girls take on one confidential, future-focused innovation challenge. Over ten instructional project days, girls investigate possibilities, plan, design, integrate, test, improve, troubleshoot, collaborate, and defend a working solution.

Experience 01 Three Teams

Seven girls per team, with different strengths contributing to one shared project.

Experience 02 10 Project Days

Approximately 50 hours of hands-on investigation, planning, building, testing, and project execution.

Experience 03 Applied STEM

Girls explore solar energy, measurement, testing, performance, and approved low-voltage components.

Experience 04 Project Management

Girls work with goals, responsibilities, deadlines, resources, risks, adjustments, and execution.

Experience 05 Human Skills

Communication, leadership, teamwork, judgment, accountability, and emotional awareness are part of the work.

Experience 06 Saturday Finale

Teams demonstrate and defend their completed solutions during a judged showcase and awards luncheon.

Full Participation

Scholarship recipient. Full experience.

Scholarship recipients are not placed in a reduced or separate version of the program. They participate in the same S.O.L.A.R.-X™ experience as every other enrolled girl.

Project Management

Plan work, manage responsibilities, track progress, respond to obstacles, and move a substantial project from concept toward completion.

Creativity & Design

Imagine possibilities, evaluate different approaches, make purposeful design decisions, and turn ideas into something tangible.

Applied STEM

Explore solar technology, energy use, testing, measurement, performance, and practical problem-solving.

Critical Thinking

Research, compare options, question assumptions, interpret results, troubleshoot, and improve ideas through evidence.

Leadership & Teamwork

Communicate, listen, take responsibility, navigate disagreements, make decisions, and contribute to a team.

Human & Emotional Intelligence

Strengthen judgment, self-awareness, adaptability, interpersonal awareness, accountability, and the human side of working with others.
